‘Hidden Track’ is a spatial and aural puzzle comprised of pop music fragments performed by multiple choirs. Larsson created the music for ‘Hidden Track’ by rearranging parts of well-known pop songs. Each of the performing choirs will interpret Larsson’s music in their own unique style. The original songs may be recognized by a familiar line or a fragment from a melody; nevertheless, they are continually recombined by the choirs into new musical forms alternately cacophonous and melodious. The choirs will perform simultaneously in the gallery, each in their own space, allowing the audience to move within and around the various sounds and songs.
Whereas Larsson’s previous performances channeled the artist’s alter egos and were in direct relation to his installations and paintings, ‘Hidden Track’ is the artist’s first performance to disregard the visual elements in favor of the music itself and the performers giving voice to it.
